Web Orientation
Orientation only takes about 30 minutes of actual time. Time is set aside the week prior to course starts for all 1st time course registrants to complete the First Class Web Orientation. During that week, a staff person is on duty ready to address connection concerns that occasionally occur as well as assist MERG students in navigating the system. The time is also used to ensure that everybody has their textbook in hand and troubleshoot when that is not the case. The orientation is a self-guided tour intended familiarize students with the learning environment—a "campus tour" of sorts. Students learn how to find their assignments, how to post their responses to the class and how to communicate with the instructor. The purpose is to relieve any anxiety about taking an online course before the first assignment is posted.
