Support for Windows XP will end on 8 April 2014, many applications that cannot be moved to a newer operating system because they are incompatible. Since there will be no scheduled security patches from April on, companies continuing to run Windows XP will be at risk of being targeted by hacking attacks

Estimates are that up to 40% of PC users worldwide are still using the 12 year-old operating system. (myself included)

Tor Boen, Field Marketing Representative, Diversified Crop Insurance Services

Greetings from the world of Crop Insurance!  As the Minnesota representative for Diversified Crop Insurance Services, an Authorized Crop Insurance Provider, this my busiest time of year.  The last day for a farmer to purchase a Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) policy is March 17.  There are several factors that contribute to the mad dash at the end of the MPCI sales season: such as the price discovery period, which determines the commodity price for the revenue guaranty, which is not complete until February 28.  Add to that the uncertainty this year caused by the delay in passing a Farm Bill, and then trying to interpret and implement the resulting changes.  Also, companies must finalize their private product offerings and train existing and new agents in using new software.  Then to top it off, we offer spring update meetings to our agents, that allow them to receive continuing education credits.  Oh yeah, and we also do update meetings in cooperation with our agents, to help inform their insured's of their options and choices they have for the upcoming crop season.

Warmth from the attic or the warm spring sun can cause snow and ice on the roof melt and cause water to run down the roof. Water hits the area of roof over the eaves and can refreeze. As more melting water hits this “cold spot” over the eaves, it can to "stack up" and eventually form an ice dam.

Water building up behind the ice dam may can end up under shingles, can warp or decay roof sheathing, cause moisture buildup in the attic, degrade insulation, cause interior leaks, and over time cause structural damage to trusses, ceilings and walls.
